palmetto practice - 14x11"

Sorry about the little "things" stuck onto the surface of the painting....it was so windy they were flying about in the air and I couldn't get them out without messing up the surface. It is kind of hard to find elevation in the Lowcountry and these trees were actually on a little hill that is part of an elevated edge of the bridge to Fripp Island. I have never been on Fripp because you have to live there to get through the security gate. I am getting the hang of palmettos - they are a really good way to practice simplification. It is very easy to get lost in the linear complication of them and lose the entire gesture and feel.

path to the beach - 14x11"

My favorite spot to paint at Hunting Island......every time you move an inch there is a different painting. In addition to it never being crowded, there are bathrooms and parking. Plus, I am determined to master painting palmettos.
