antique roses - 10x12"

My roses have grown amazingly since last spring when I first planted them! My daughter's wedding was held at an amazing place in Brenham Texas - this rose is from there. I would strongly suggest that anyone who loves roses check out the Antique Rose Emporium on line. I bought another type when I was there in November and that one has just begun to flower as well.

still life beginnings

I couldn't resist these roses at the grocery store yesterday so I got them. I still don't really understand the finer points of setting up a still life and have never really had the space for it so I tend to go simple.........controlling the light source is the biggest problem and the drastic change of light is what  stopped my work on this picture today. Where I paint inside has light from three directions (all but north) and it actually stays true for much of the day but then it gets really, really different!

roses - 8x10"

I started this last summer but didn't have time to finish. I figured that I would be able to finish it this year but unfortunately this bush died over the winter. I looked at it yesterday and decided I could cut the painting down so it would not seem unfinished (it is on a panel) but I decided that I liked the unfinished quality of it.
